An acute family conflict which lasted for over 35 years, has on Sunday, 6th June 2021, come to an end.
The chronic battle between Mr Asukwo Akpan Umoh and Nung Osukeme family had led to the suspension and dethronement of Mr Asukwo from the the family
Mr Asukwo who has been on suspension for over 15 years, over issues bothering on insubordination to the laws guiding the family, was brought for forgiveness and restoration.
Speaking during the peace-making mission, the Councillor representing Ndiya Ward 2 in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Hon. Pastor Anne Abraham, pleaded on behalf of Mr. Asukwo.
She said no weight of sin is beyond forgiveness, aside that, “My primary purpose as Councillor for Ndiya Ward 2 is to foster peace among my kindred and unite my community, and the first point of call in discharging that responsibility, is to put my family in order.
“I am a member of the Nung Osukeme family, and of such, I can’t successfully preach peace when my family is torn apart.”
It would be recalled that the Councillor, barely two months after swearing in to office, organised a unity football tournament across the four villages of the ward, reuniting the people.
A former Councilor of the ward, Rt. Hon. Abraham Abraham, who led the entourage went on his knees to mediate for Mr Asukwo to be received back into the family in order to enjoy the benefits of the family.
Those who also interceded for Mr. Asukwo included Mr Monday Akpan Koffi a.k.a Ashock Man among others.
Highpoint of the meeting was prayer for a sustainable peace and harmony in the family.
