Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, alongside 11 others have reportedly died in a plane crash that occurred in Kaduna State on Friday.

The Director of Public Relations and Information of the force, Edward Gabkwet, in his tweet, said “An air crash involving a @NigAirForce aircraft occurred this evening near the Kaduna International Airport. The immediate cause of the crash is still being ascertained. More details to follow soon.”

Reports have it that the ill-fated Beachcraft 350 aircraft exploded and got burnt completely around 6pm, killing all on board numbering 12.

Others in the entourage include Brig. Gen. M. I. Abdulkadir, Brig. Gen. Playing, Brig. Gen Kuliya, Maj. L. A. Hayat, Maj. Hamza and Sgt. Umar.

Crew members include Flt Lt T. O. Asaniyi, Flt Lt A. A. Lufade, Sgt. Adesina and ACM Oyedepo.
