…AS ANNE ABRAHAM HOSTS CONSTITUENTS
…I’VE NEVER SEEN A COUNCILLOR LIKE ANNE ABRAHAM –PDP CHAIRMAN
…YOU ARE A GREAT TESTIMONY –IKWA AFANG
The entire youth caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikot Ewang, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, has emptied its structure into the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), 9jaecho.com has reported.
They made the move on Saturday during a thank you and Abasi Akama Ukara Campaign Organisation Committee dissolution in Ndiya Usung Inyang, Nsit Ubium LGA.
The defectors, led by the Youth President, Isaac Uyo Isaac, and his Vice, Sunday Aniefiok Samuel, stated that they made the decision following the exceptional development brought to Ndiya by the Councilor representing Ndiya Ward 2, Hon. Pst (Mrs) Anne Abraham, through the ruling party in the state, PDP.
“We realized that if we are together, we will overcome hardship. We went on a sojourn, but we are back for good, to join hands with the councilor and the PDP family to promote peace, unity and progress particularly in Ndiya and Nsit Ubium at large.”
Receiving the defectors, Hon. Anne expressed appreciation to God for making the day a reality, and thanked the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel and his wife, Martha, for giving women opportunity in governance, “a decision that produced me as Councilor.”
She expressed gratitude to the political leader of Ndiya Ward 2 and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security, Capt. Iniobong Ekong (retd) a.k.a Ikwa Afang, and elders of the village for voting her into power without lobbying.
Hon. Anne vowed to work tirelessly never to disappoint the people of Ndiya. “I will use every opportunity to make Ndiya proud.”
The Councilor also thanked the people of the ward for their unflinching support given her throughout the campaign and election periods, coming out en masse to vote her into power to represent them.
Hon. Anne expressed appreciation to the State PDP Chairman, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Akpan, represented by PDP Chairman, Uyo Senatorial District, Hon Ibanga Brownson, for his earnest contributions and advice for her, as well as PDP for not rejecting her when she was presented by her people, and urged the people to take solace in the umbrella of the party.
She used the occasion to dissolve her committee for Abasi Akama Ukara Campaign Organisation with Rev Ofong Inyang as Chairman, and Mr. Emmanuel Lincoln as Director General, adding that it is a privilege to welcome back over 48 followers into the PDP fold.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security and Political Leader of Ndiay, Capt. Iniobong Ekong (Retd) a.k.a Ikwa Afang, in his goodwill message, congratulated Hon. Anne Abraham for the great feat within the short period despite paucity of funds.
He said “Since 2007 when I emerged Chairman of Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, I’ve given so many people appointments and placed them in numerous top positions, but majority of them have not been able to do what you have done. You are a great testimony to the people of Ndiya.”
He charged the people to join hands with the Councilor to build and restore the glory of Ndiya, and solicited for unity and togetherness among the people.
Ikwa Afang as he is fondly called, charged the people to remain resolute, assuring the defectors of equal opportunity which, according to him, is what PDP stands for, and handed them over to the representative of the State PDP Chairman, Hon. Ibanga Brownson.
On his part, Hon. Ibanga Brownson, emphatically stated that “In my over 20 years of political experience, I’ve never seen a councilor like this.
“When I heard that you were building a market, I asked Captain what was the matter with you, if you really knew what you were doing, and if you would be able to complete the market. He said he himself was also surprised, but that God would give you the ability.
“Truly you have proven to the people that you are real. I can assure you that because of the seeds you have sown, you can never stop in this position. Barely four days after your swearing in, you flagged off a football tournament. This is unprecedented. You cannot afford to sow these seeds and not reap.”
He thanked the defectors for taking such pragmatic decision, and informed them that PDP is like heaven, rejoicing over the winning of one soul, “and today we are winning more than 48 souls. In PDP, we enjoy equal benefits.”
He charged them to return to their respective villages and wards, coordinate their people and maintain peaceful coexistence for sustainable development.
Also speaking, Ete Idung Ekom Jonathan of Ikot Ukap, said “I’m marveled at the kind of projects the Councilor has embarked on because, these are what local government chairmen, commissioners, senators and governors supposed to do.”
He prayed God to give her the grace to represent her people even in greater capacities and positions than Councillorship, while urging her to run youth-inclusive governance.
It could be recalled that four days after her swearing in, Hon. Anne Abraham flagged off a first ever football tournament in the history of Ndiya, to foster peace and unity among the people.
She also cleared and rebuilt to a modern standard, a 40-year old abandoned Odiong Market in Ndiya Usung Inyang. The project is near completion.
The councilor, in her peace and unity ambition, has recently dissolved a 35-year old family dispute and reunited the parties involved.
Hon. Anne used the occasion to announce the 2021 Nduo Eduo/Abo Christmas Festival, which she said will be a 4-day event starting from 31 December 2021 over 2nd January, 2022.
Lineup of event includes Children’s Party to hold in Ikot Ukap; Councilor’s Cup in Ikot Ewang; Carnival in Ndiya Usung Inyang; and thanksgiving in Ikot Akpanufuk.
The occasion was well attended by top indigenes of Ndiya including Ete Idung Uko George of Ikot Akpanufuk; Ete Idung Akpan Okon of Ikot Ewang; and Supervisor for Ndiya Ward 2, Hon. Aniekan Williams.
Others include Political Leader of Ikot Ukap, Rev Ofong Inyang; one-time Councilor for the ward, Rt. Hon. Abraham Abraham Anyang; Acting Ward Chairman, Mrs. Alice, among other executive members of the party in Ndiya wards 1, 2 and 3.
