…RECEIVES MORE SUPPORTS FROM EKET STAKEHOLDERS

The quest for the office of the Chairman in Eket by Hon. Akaniyene Tommey Ikott, on Thursday, on Thursday, received another massive boosts as more political stakeholders in the area adopted and endorsed him as their sole candidate for the forthcoming local government chairmanship election.
This is coming a day after an astute political maverick and chaiftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rt Hon Ekanem Willie, and other political stalwarts in the area commended the aspirant for being a worthy leadership article.
Hon. Akaniyene received the endorsement when consultation train arrived Urban 3, Ward 4 Central and Ward 2 Central.
Other wards including Okon Development 1, Urban 1&2, Odio, Nitia, Ward 1 Central, Ward 3 Central, and Urban 4, did same during the week, as ward executives including elders, political leaders, women and youths defied the scotching weather to march to their ward secretaries to participate in the political exercise.
Receiving the Hope Alive Campaign Organisation, Chairman of Ward 2 Central, Mr Tony Udoh, stated that the people are satisfied with empowerment and development of the ward by Hon. Akaniyene Tommey while serving as a Councilor.
He listed areas that attract the aspirant as their candidate of choice to include road construction, human capital development, building and renovation of school blocks, construction of boreholes in all the villages making up the ward, building of houses for widows, empowerment/scholarship grants, footing of hospital bills, and respect for elders among other sectors.
Mr Udoh advised the chairmanship aspirant to remain focus, not to be bothered or deterred by the spat of criticisms seeking to tarnish his image, assuring him that no amount of propaganda will change their minds from voting for him.
Chairmen of Urban 3 and Ward 4 Central, Mr Ikpe Dominic and Mr Sunday Uso respectively, on their parts, reassured the aspirant on winning the chairmanship election, saying the ward executives remain loyal and committed for his success.
They enjoined all sons and daughters of Eket Local Government Area to endeavour to come out and vote Akaniyene Tommey Ikott as chairman because he has the capacity to take Eket to a greater height.
Earlier, Director General of Hope Alive Campaign Organisation, Chief A. S. Idim, while presenting the chairmanship hopeful to the people, said that Hon. Akaniyene has the interest of the people at heart, and that if elected as Chairman, he will run an all-inclusive and transparent government where every indigene will have access to his office.
Responding, Hon. Akaninyene praised the people for the endorsement and honour done him, saying the ward executives have shown the entire local government that love is not sentiment but strategic, and assuring that they will never regret their choice of him as chairman.
