A Frontline aspirant in the forthcoming chairmanship elections, Hon. Akaniyene Tommey Ikott, has taken a message of hope to the people of Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
He said his intention to contest for the office of Chairman, is to restore the lost glory of Eket Local Government Area.
Hon. Akaniyene disclosed this during a consultation visit to three different wards such as Okon Development 1, Urban 1 and 2, Okon geopolitical zone, on Tuesday, assuring the people that his government will leave no stone unturned towards ensuring that the lost glory of Eket is restored.
He pledged to run an all-inclusive government that has never been experienced positively in the history of Eket Local Government, pleading with the people not to waste their votes, but stand with him for a greater tomorrow and greater Eket that all sons and daughters will enjoy.
Earlier, Director General, Hope Alive Campaign Organisation, Chief A. S. Idim, while presenting the chairmanship aspirant to the people, assured that the hope of Eket people is not finished but still alive despite the underdevelopment by past administrations, and Hon. Akaniyene is committed and will deliver on his mandate to restore their hope.
He stated categorically that Hon. Akaniyene Tommey Ikott believes in the hope and future of Eket people and can be accessed any time, and enjoined the people to vote for him as chairman in the forthcoming elections.
The DG spoke of the chairmanship hopeful as someone who does not preach discrimination and destruction but believes that everyone has the right to contest for whatever position he/she desires.
Chief Idim noted that with Hon. Akaniyene as Chairman, the issue of bad roads will be a thing of the past in Eket local government, as he owns a construction company which he has been using to construct various internal roads while serving as Councilor.
He further disclosed that Hon. Akaniyene, in his Councillorship tenure representing Ward 2 Central, had constructed houses for widows, built and renovated school blocks, constructed boreholes in all the villages that make up Ward 2 Central, and many other projects.
Ward Chairmen of Okon Development 1, Urban 1 and 2, Samuel Akpan James; Elder Augustine Akpanessien; and Comr. Jonny Ibok Eteyo respectively, in their separate speeches, thanked the Hope Alive team for presenting to them Hon. Akaniyene Tommey Ikott whom they described as credible and marketable product.
They assured him that he has no cause to worry as the people are solidly behind him and are ready to deliver him during the election, adding that he should go and prepare for swearing in.
The ward chaimen admonished the chairmanship aspirant to be courageous, not to be intimidated, but focus on his mandate and perform creditably in line with the 8-point completion agenda of the state Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel.
Also present at the occasion were Political Leader, Eket Geopolitical Zone, Prof. Etiebe Akpan and all executives of the three visited wards ranging from Vice Chairmen, Secretaries, women leaders, youth leaders, treasurers, PROs, organizing secretaries, financial secretaries and ex-officios as well as legal advisers, were present at the occasion.
The Hope Alive train moved from Okon Development 1 to Urban 1 and 2, and had visited Okon Development 2 last Saturday.
