The concept of ‘Who Wants To Be a Millionaire‘, first premiered in Nigeria as an independently sponsored Television Game Show anchored by the legendary Frank Edoho on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), from 8 October 2004 before going on hiatus on 25 June 2017.
The vision of the game show was to raise as many millionaires as possible from the country as well as push towards the elevation of poverty through intellectually puzzling quiz session. Of course, the game also encouraged brain-smartness, quantitative and qualitative reasonings amongst Nigerians, particularly those placed on the hot-seat!
Like the legendary “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” show, the Uyo Federal Constituency Mouthpiece at the Green Chambers and the Lion of Uyo politics, Rt. Hon. Michael Enyong aka Baba Ntan, is all-out to make over 300 millionaires before the end of 2020.
So far, he has hit the ground running with the recent empowerment of 8 million naira to his constituents drawn from Uyo, Uruan, Ibesikpo Asutan and Nsit Atai Local Government Areas, as well as the donation of 5.4 million naira to 252 constituents as business fund-based supports to women.
No wonder, the Uyo Federal MP has enjoyed massive followership across the four Local Government Area in particular, Uyo Senatorial District and the State in general. This show of love and goodwill is not unconnected with his people-oriented disposition, particularly to the poor and the downtrodden. This gesture is also a lucid attestation of his humane nature.
He has for the umpteenth time, acquitted himself as the true ambassador of the poor, who believes and advocates for the liberation of the poor from the chains of poverty and lack. To get his people out of the woods, he has adopted a practical approach towards sustainable development and empowerment of the people, a feat he is absolutely certain will take the people from the dungeon to the millionaires club.
Pundits and followers of his trend of investments on his constituents have put him in the mould of the very few selfless, altruistic leaders the state have ever produced in history.
Impressed by the Baba Ntan stream of empowerments of people overtime, a cluster of women during a recent event in Uyo described the Uyo Legislator as ‘a man of his words, the talk and do leader, suak suak suak and the Lion of Uyo politics who always roar in defense of the rights of his people.
Mrs. Mfonobong Jackson Ekanem popularly known as Mma Attah, who paid glowing tributes to the Uyo Reps man, described Baba Ntan as a leader with a heart of gold, who finds delight in giving alms to the poor and helpless.
Mma Attah, who spoke on ground of authority averred that given the pedigree and scorecard of Baba Ntan, there was hope for the future of the poor. He commended him for the good heart he has, especially in giving out of love, sympathy to the people and prayed God to replenish and grant him more opportunities to give more to the people.
Legislatively, Baba Ntan has not only raised the bar in the area of legislation and oversight, but has become a building block and cynosure of the Akwa Ibom delegates in the National Assembly. Suffice to mention here that, he holds sway as the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Solid Minerals Development, a position that is not just critical in the economic revolution and diversification of our country, but very tasking and juicy!
Away from the rigour of his Committee activities, the Uyo MP has a good number of Bills and sensitive Motions on his belt, the feat, that had informed his Recognition as the Southern Nigeria Best Legislator (House of Reps) by the Independent Legislative Reporters and Good Governance Advocates, in his first term.
His resolve to make millionaires out of his constituents and indeed Akwa Ibomites is further emboldened by his penchant to create more opportunities to the teeming youths as well as facilitate more job opportunities at juicy Ministries, Agencies and Parastatal for Akwa Ibom people.
Of course, testimonies of his job empowerment to the people – irrespective of ethnic background – is awash in town, which further gives credence to his vision of sustainable development and olypotic empowerment of the people, as captured by his WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE template.
Indeed, with Baba Ntan’s template of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, many Akwa Ibomites will be millionaires!
