To celebrate God’s blessings on her life as she clocks the golden age of 50, the wife of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Her Excellency Dr. Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel today handed over keys to a brand new well finished two-bedroom bungalow to Madam Nkoyo Bassey Essio, a widow with 6 children from Oti-Oro in Okobo Local Government Area.
The house built through her non-governmental platform, Family Empowerment and Youth Reorientation Path-initiative( FEYReP), took the tally of houses built and delivered to families to 35 in number.
Dr. Emmanuel who earlier had a Thanksgiving Service at the Latter House House Chapel Governor’s lodge, said the gesture was to commemorate God’s all round blessings on her life and family, saying “I thank God for the privilege to see 50 years today, I don’t take it for granted. In translating my appreciation to God, I’m here to bless this widow.”
She added that inline with the biblical injunction of giving alms to the poor, she was optimistic that God will continue to give her the enablement to be a blessing to her generation especially now that she has attained a milestone age.
“If I was able to do all i did before the age of 50, I’ve no doubt that God’s grace will enable me do more as I begin this new phase in my life,” she quipped.
The State First Lady also used the event to reach out to 100 widows in the community with wrappers and cash, positing that it was her little way of celebrating her birthday.
She offered special prayers for the peace and prosperity of the community, while also congratulating the widow beneficiary on her new house.
Stakeholders of Okobo local government area such as the deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Felicia Bassey, former Speaker of the State House, Rt Hon. Peter Linus Umoh, Chief Jerry Okpo among others were on ground to register their goodwill messages and as well wish the governor’s wife a hearty birthday celebration.
