The Special Assistant to the Akwa Ibom State Governor and Clergy of the African Church, Rev. Richard Peters, has tasked parents to give the highest level of commitment to godly parenting.
The SA attributed most atrocities perpetrated by youngsters in societies to ungodly and poor trainings given to them by their parents right from birth, emphazing that the foundation of a child is capable of bringing doom or peace upon a society.
Rev Peters made the remarks on Sunday while delivering a sermon during a Child Dedication Service at the African Church, Ikot Akpanabia in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area.
The clergyman, who spoke on Parenting, upheld that the society and the world at large can be a better place if parents can also place priority on instilling godly virtues into their wards.
He maintained that one cardinal responsibility of parents in life is raising their offspring in a godly, adding that without good home training, it palpable the children will be swept over by negative influences from the church, community, school and peers.
“We can have the best qualification but, we can be denied employment given the unhealthy habits, attitudes we exude. Unfortunately, many parents have already failed because they’ve paid deaf ears to this fact and dedicate no time to train their children,” he said.
He recalled the Governor had promised during the 2019 Education Summit in Uyo to partner churches inculcating the right virtues into the younger generation.
He pleaded churches to create enabling environment for the easy realization of Governor Udom’s set out goal. He urged them to be willing to accept the partnership and work in pari passu for the aim of the partnership to be actualized.
He advised parents to train, discipline, coach, love and pray for their children.
Shortly after the sermon, Ven. Jimmy Jimmy took Master Samuel Itoro Edet to God in dedication, praying God’s grace and protection for him.
The Parent of Master Samuel thanked God for his bounties to the family, most especially the gift of a son.
