Women of Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency have reechoed that they have come to a final decision to support the state Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, for second term and all other candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming elections.
They made the declaration during a PDP Federal Constituency Women Rally in support of the Governor, at the James Ekpo Secretariat, Oko Ita, Ibiono Ibom LGA, on Wednesday.
The women who were keenly excited over the various programmes of the Governor for the people of Itu and Ibiono, vowed to not only vote but protect their votes for all PDP candidates including Governor Udom Emmanuel, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for President, Senator Bassey Albert representing Uyo Senatorial District, Hon Henry Archibong and Kufreabasi Edidem for State House.
In her remarks, wife of Ibiono Council Chairman stated that Governor Emmanuel, upon assumption of office in 2015, fulfilled his campaign promises by constructing the Paramount Ruler Road, adding that the First Lady, through her FEYReP initiative, has empowered the women, youths and school children in the area.
The Commissioner of Women Affairs, Dr Gloria Edet, on her part, said Governor Emmanuel has impacted positively on the lives of every citizen across the three senatorial districts of the state, a feat she said, no governor has ever recorded.
Also speaking, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Trade and Market Matters, Akparawa Idorenyin Raphael, disclosed that Ibiono women don’t know how much garri is sold in the market because they process their own, courtesy of the cassava plantation in the area.
He said Udom Emmanuel has done the impossibles in Akwa Ibom State, and urged the women not to take d serious the lies and blackmails by people of the other divides, saying “Ita Enang would have been a palm wine tapper if not PDP.”
The member representing Ibiono State Constituency in the state House of Assembly, Rt Hon Barr Imeh Okon, said that beyond the Governor’s political inclusiveness for for the people of Ibiono Ibom, he is a man of peace, and that the people can’t afford to increase the number of widows in the state.
Former Council Secretary of the area, Obonganwan Grace Ekong, noted that there was no need for much words because the women are ready to return Udom Emmanuel to the Hilltop Mansion come 2nd March.
Commissioner for Environment, Dr Iniobong Essien, stated that Governor Udom Emmanuel contributed immensely to see to the end of recession in Nigeria.
He hinted that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has projected another recession, and that Governor Udom Emmanuel will be needed to bail Nigeria out of the recession.
In the same vein, Distinguished Senator Anietie Okon said that the proposed second recession will only come to bare if we don’t vote Atiku Abubakar as President and Udom Emmanuel for Governor, and other PDP candidates.
Addressing the women, wife of the Governor, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel charged the women not to be misled by those whose aim is to win election at all cost without the interest of the general masses at heart.
According to her, Akpabio sacked Nsima Ekere as deputy governor with the claim that he was corrupt, but now wants to impose the same corrupt person on Akwa Ibom people.
“If Nsima Ekere could not use his position as MD of NDDC for the development of Akwa Ibom State, he would not do it as governor.
“Akpabio described Ita Enang as a “commissioner for gossip”, and now he is fronting the same person.”
The First Lady told the crowd that PDP remains the only party that touches lives and works for the advancement of the wellbeing of the citizenry.
