Governor Udom Emmanuel has announced the sponsorship of 1,643 Akwa Ibom people on special skills acquisition programme commencing on Monday, January 28, 2019, at different locations in the state.
Emmanuel made the announcement during a thanksgiving and 50th birthday celebration of the Chairman of Uyo Capital City Development Authority (UCCDA), Prince Enobong Uwah, at Living Faith Church aka Winners Chapel in Uyo, on Sunday.
The Governor said that the Idea behind the sponsorship of the individuals on different aspects of skills acquisition in arts, crafts and technical training, was to ensure development of talents, remarking that the training, on completion, would provide series of multiplier effects on the economy of the state.
He acknowledged that the economy of most societies, including Nigeria, are anchored on the contributions of small and medium scale enterprises in providing daily needs, adding that such ventures form the foundations for the growth of cottage and mega industries in developing countries.
Governor Emmanuel indicated that the participants of the programme, especially in manufacturing and baking, deserves the encouragement of products consumers by patronizing their outputs, explaining that their initiatives would complement government’s efforts at ensuring that 80% of food consumed in Akwa Ibom are produced in the state.
While congratulating the celebrator, Prince Uwah, on his attainment of the golden age, the State Chief Executive noted that it was expedient to thank God for the numerous blessings we enjoy from him as mortals and prayed for more achievements and blessings for and his family.
The celebrator, Prince Uwah, accompanied by his Wife, Inemesit and children, expressed appreciation to God for his blessings and mercies upon his life in his 50 years of existence, pledging commitment to the service of God and humanity.
Prince Uwah, who is also the Secretary of the Divine Mandate Organization, appreciated everyone who has impacted his life particularly thanking the Governor for his role in his current disposition and described the Governor as a true man of God.
He commended his immediate family for their patience and understanding during his absence while functions in his official capacity, thanking members if the State Executive Council, the political class, friends and family who supported the event with their presence.
The UCCDA boss expressed conviction on the success of Governor Emmanuel’s re-election and prayed for peaceful elections in the state and country.
In a homily, the State Pastor of the Church, Triumphant Obamoh, stressed the importance of fasting for Christians, saying that it is a spiritual weapon against the yoke of darkness and sued for commitment among followers of Christ.
Reading from Luke 5:33, Pastor Obamoh maintained that fervent prayers and fasting facilitates spiritual blessings, divine guidance and health, calling on the Christian community to seize every opportunity to pray while expressing faith in God.
The event featured presentation of souvenirs to the Governor, by Akwa Ibom State female manufacturers, rendition by the choir and prayers.
Dignitaries who graced the occasion included the State Deputy Governor, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, the State Chief Judge, Justice Godwin Abraham, members of the State Executive Council, State Assembly members, the political class, friends and associates of the celebrator.
