Akwa Ibom State Government has commenced a 3-Day statewide prayer and fasting for peace and tranquility in the state in particular and Nigeria in general.
This was declared by the state Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, to seek God’s face for protection against violence and bloodshed through out the elections period come 2019.
The theme for the 3-day fasting and prayer is “Peace Be Still” taken from the Gospel according to Mark 4:39, and everyone is required to pray for peace throughout the period of the elections in the state and country.
Although it does not affect work, but everyone is expected to pray in his/her respective office, business place, learning center or home.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Charles Udoh, had in a statement announced that the prayers on each of the first two days should be rounded off at the close of work through group prayers.
On the third day, the fasting shall culminate in an open air service on Saturday at the Banquet Hall Grounds, Government House from 3pm.
The prayer and fasting cuts across political divide and ethnic or religious background.
