Ituk Mbang Modern Hospital Set For Commissioning
As part of the celebrations of the 31st anniversary of statehood, the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel will this Friday, September 21, 2018, commission the revamped Modern General Hospital Ituk Mbang.
According to a release by the state commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Charles Udoh, the exercise billed for noon, is in pursuance of the Governor’s commitment to inject a new lease of life into the secondary health care delivery in the State.
Governor Emmanuel had last year, while flagging off the project promised to ensure a modern hospital to handle public health issues in the Uyo metropolis.
The hospital which was established by the missionaries of the Methodist Church.
Until Governor Emmanuel’s visit to the facility, no other governor had been to the hospital except former military administrator Yakubu Bako in 1996.
Recall that in just three years in the saddle, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has turned around the fortunes of over 7 secondary healthcare facilities including Etinan and Ikono General Hospitals.
Currently, the General Hospital in Ikot Okoro, Oruk Anam local government area, the general hospitals in Eket, Oron and Okobo are at various stages of complete turn around.
So far, 26 out of the 100 containers of medical facilities ordered from the United States of America and Canada, have arrived in the state.
The governor had earlier also executed an infectious diseases referral center in Ikot Ekpene and has promised to embark soon, on a total remodeling and equipping of the Ikot Ekpene General Hospital.
Akwa Ibom remains the only state of the country where children, pregnant women and aged, receive free health services in its public secondary health facilities.
