2019: Don’t Be Used As Political Toilet Paper, Cleric Charges Youths
A renown cleric in Akwa Ibom state, Apostle Ime George, has warned youths in Akwa Ibom State, particularly, students of the University of Uyo, not to offer themselves to be used and dumped like tissue papers by politicians seeking various political offices in the upcoming 2019 general elections.
Apostle George who is the Field Superintendent of The Apostolic Church Nigeria, made the call on Monday after receiving the Prestigious Award of Administrative Excellence conferred on him by the Faculty of Education, University of Uyo during the 7th Annual National Conference of Education.
The cleric who frowned at the attitude of some politicians said most of them can go extra miles to achieve what he termed selfish aspiration, and therefore warned youths to be careful as political activities thicken in the State.
Apostle George further stated that most politicians are always in the habit of engaging youths in their negative politicking and thereafter abandon them, noting that such politicians are always self-centered and care less about the future of the youths neither that of the State nor the Country.
While condemning political violence, George advised youths to secure their future and refrain from act capable of jeopardizing their destiny.
“I am advising our youths, especially our students, to be on alert as 2019 election draws closer. Don’t allow politicians to use and dump you as toilet paper. Don’t allow them to drag you into political thuggery and violence that will truncate your future because your future is important. They may come and deceive you with fake promises, enticing you with money but don’t be carried away by their tricks, don’t sell your future for peanut because immediately after the election they will dump you. God told me that a better Nigeria is coming very soon and that what the future holds is promising. God said the rain of good things is coming. There shall be rain of good economy, rain of peace and rain that will bring unity and love”, the cleric cum academician said.
On the award conferred on him by the Faculty of Education, the cleric thanked the leadership of the faculty and the University as a whole for honoring him with an award of Administrative Excellence which he described as special, saying that it’s an indication that his contribution to the academic development is acknowledged by the institution.
