Buhari’s Sentiment On Appointment Tears Nigeria Apart
The recent sack of Lawal Daura by President Muhammadu Buhari and appointing Yusuf Magaji Bichi as the new Director General of the Department of State Service (DSS), has generated uproar within the Nigerian society.
Many Nigerians have expressed bitterness over what they called political tribalism that is found in Buhari’s government.
Yusuf Magaji Bichi who retired from service 6ix months ago was called back to replace Matthew B. Seiyefa from Bayelsa State who was the acting and rightful person after the sack of Lawal Daura.
Nigerians have taken to their social media handles to register their displeasure over the development.
They are protesting that Buhari should have allowed Matthew B. Seiyefa act as DG DSS till after elections before appointing Yusuf Magaji Bichi, describing it as a very wrong move politically.
“The new Director of DSS just appointed by Buhari had finished his term and retired about six months ago. The next most qualified people are all from Southern Nigeria – a guy from Delta & a woman. Because of tribalism, Buhari went to bring him back from retirement,” one of the comments reads.
Other numerous negative reactions are all over twitter to condemn Buhari’s choice of appointing northerners in his government.
