Just as directed by Obong Paul Ekpo, the state chairman of the PDP, for wards to convene meetings across the 326 wards in the state, Ward 9 in Uyo Local Government area, which comprises of 9 villages maintained that they have never lost election since the inception of democracy.
The meeting aimed at emphasizing the continuous membership registration and preparation for the forthcoming nomination exercise brought every stakeholders, Exco’s and members from far and near to the meeting.
Chaired by the ward chairman, Hon Ita Enang, he admonished the ward party members that the aim is to return Governor Udom Emmanuel irrespective of any challenge.
“We must return Governor Udom Emmanuel because it’s a challenge to Uyo people.
“Udom is an Ibibio son and we must come all out to return him to the Hilltop mansion to complete his tenure,” he added.
Hon Ita also solicited for calms amongst party faithfuls, in the aspect of supporting other aspirants in Uyo who are vying for various offices , advising that individual support to aspirant should not divide the attention of party faithfuls.
He also hinted them that Voters registration is ongoing and it’s absolutely free, urging them to prepare that on Friday, the Governor will publicly announce his declaration of interest to run for a second term at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
Also speaking was the immediate past transition Chairman of Uyo LGA, Barr Mfon Ben, he narrated that Uyo have no choice because after Eket, comes Uyo Senatorial District. Hence the reason we must support Gov Udom Emmanuel.
“We need to generate enough vote to be able to have a say in this governance.”
Also speaking was the former member representing Uyo State Constituency and a board member Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Hon Ekere Afia, who said that the PDP government has not been bad with the people and as such, everyone must stand up and give all support to the party as well as the Governor Mr. Udom Emmanuel.
Others who were present at the meeting were: A Nollywood movies star Mr. Ekere Nkanga, Hon Dr. Mrs Grace Ekpo, the former transition chairman of Uyo, Mr. Uduak Inwang Aide to Uyo Council Chairman, Hon Uwana Young, Former councillor, Youth Groups, Women and Party Excos.
