Akpabio’s Media Aide Faults Ex-Minority Leader On 2019

Senator Godswill Akpabio’s media aide, Mr Anietie Ekong, has distanced himself with his boss on the issue of 2019 governorship in Akwa Ibom State, saying that power comes from God alone.
Akpabio in a recent rally in Ikot Ekpene, is quoted as saying that he regretted supporting the emergence of Governor Udom Emmanuel in 2015 and would therefore replace him with another candidate in 2019.
This drew the irk of several stakeholders in the state who rose in strong condemnation of Senator Akpabio, for arrogating too much power to himself in the matter that involves the interest of all Akwa Ibom people.
Notable comments from two Senators, Bassey Albert and Anietie Okon faulted the Senator, making it clear that the final decision of a leader comes from God.
In a swift U-turn, Mr Anietie Ekong said, “Senator Akpabio knows that power comes from God and therefore cannot say it was a mistake for God to make a Governor out of Deacon Udom Emmanuel in 2015.”
Mr Ekong who obviously was not at the Ikot Ekpene Plaza when his boss described Mr Udom Emmanuel as a mistake that needs correction, said in a statement that, “we state categorically that such assertion never came from Senator Akpabio.”
Ekong said Senator Akpabio was no longer qualified to vie for a governorship position in the state, and was only interested in working with President Buhari to stop the alarming insecurity and economic hardship in the country.
It would be recalled that Senator Akpabio, at the burial of his wife’s late grandmother in Ezeagu, Enugu state, promised to invade Akwa Ibom like the late German tyrant, Adolf Hitler, who took over Poland in 1940.
Historians recall that the invasion of Poland by Hitler caused the death of over 860,000 Polish citizens, while another 60,000 Germans met their waterloo.
