Succour came the way of victims of crisis-torn communities of Iwukem in Etim Ekpo and others in Ukanafun Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State, as they smiled home with various relief materials, courtesy of the state Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel.
The Governor, who visited the communities on Friday with members of his cabinet, doled out varying relief materials to the affected families of the cult-related violence.
While addressing members of the communities, Gov Emmanuel explained that the gesture was aimed at putting smiles on the faces of victims of the unfortunate crisis.
He said, “It is not our wish that anyone should die, it is our wish that everyone repents and lives in accordance with Biblical principle. Let’s there be peace”.
Items distributed include ten truckloads of rice, beans, garri, beverages, and toiletries.
The Governor called on members of the communities to shun cultism and any other form of social vices, and sued for peace.
In the recent times, there have been activities of insurgence affecting thousands of people in the rural communities of Etim Ekpo and Ukanafun LGAs leading to loss of many lives and destruction of properties worth millions of naira with several families displaced.
