On 25th May 2018, a report popped up from a book authored by the former Minister for Finance, Mrs. Okonjo Iweala, titled “Fighting Corruption is Dangerous”, alleging that the administration of former President Goodluck Ebele Johnathan paid the National Assembly N17 billion to pass 2015 Budget.
It could be recalled that in 2015, the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Solomon Enang was Chairman of the Senate Committee on Rules and Business, and one of the key players in the Senate.
Since the report came to glare, Nigerians have been anxiously expecting the vocal presidential aide to tell us whether he had a share from the largesse or not, but our talking Senator has pretended not to be aware of the issue.
In as much as Nigerians expect the administration of ‘Saint Buhari’ to investigate and charge to court those who partook in this inglorious act, Ita Enang shouldn’t just be bold at telling us what Gov Udom Emmanuel and President Muhammadu Buhari are doing or not doing. He should tell us how true is the allegation, and what was his stand on the N17 billion largesse.
President Buhari should also hold Senator Ita Enang to explain to Nigerians what he knows about the allegation.
If he cannot come out clean in this case, it therefore means that he is not clean enough to pour spit on others. That is one thing Senator Ita Enang must tell us.
