Gov Emmanuel Continues Harvest Of Projects In Uyo

Governor Udom Emmanuel on Wednesday, in line with his commitment to food sufficiency in the State, inaugurated Atlantic Cassava Processing Mill and Maize Shelling and drying machines in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, describing the processing mills as needs conceived with the aim of bringing down the cost of garri, fufu and other cassava end products.
According to him, the mills are established in the three senatorial districts of the state, to cultivate enough cassava food crops that would be processed in order to make the staple food within the reach of an average citizen in the state, stressing that any administration that cannot feed its citizens has performed below expectation.
Also, a multi-storey office complex to accommodate the state-owned Anchor Insurance Company Limited, Barracks Road, Uyo, was commissioned to add pep to the infrastructural consolidation and expansion agenda of the state government.
Gov Emmanuel, who described Anchor Insurance as a pride of the State investment in the financial sector of the economy, charged the Management to diversify their services by venturing into real estate in order to consolidate on its capital base, noting that diversification in investment by the company would open new vistas in the services rendered by the company.
The Chairman of Uyo Local Government Council, Elder Imoh Okon, who expressed delight that the administration has touched the Uyo village with good road network and excellent infrastructure and enhancing the ambience of Uyo city, commended the Governor for putting in place giant strides of infrastructural development in the local government, and pledged the support of Uyo people to his administration beyond 2019.
The Village Head of Uyo, Eteidung Aniedi Okon, said that the present administration has given the people of Uyo a sense of pride as a host community to the Seat of Government, and presented an excellent award, souvenir, wrappers and a compilation of the history of Uyo to Gov Emmanuel.
In the same vein, the 1.5km Afaha Ikot Obio Nkan road in Ibesikpo Asutan LGA was also inaugurated by the state Governor amidst wild jubilations among members of the community who explained that the road, before now, was impassable especially during the rains, and commended the Governor for coming to their rescue.
The euphoria of project commissioning continued on Thursday 31st May with the putting up for use of Atan Offot Road, Ntiedo Udosen Street, and Believer’s Assembly Road all within the Uyo metropolis.
It could be recalled that Governor Emmanuel, on assumption of office in May 2015, had pledged his resolve to construct rural roads, link them up with urban roads and rehabilitate internal roads within the Uyo metropolis and its environs to ease traffic along major roads in the State.
