Condemnations Trail New Buhari Campaign Office On Govt House Vicinity
Security breach was observed on Monday along Wellington Bassey Way which is the main access to the Akwa Ibom State Government House in Uyo, as hundreds of APC youths were mobilized there for the opening of a 2019 Campaign office for President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election.
Observers who live along the said road said the former SkyMinds Hotel building at Barracks road is a three storey building which compound has not much space for parking lots and they wondered why such an edifice with virtually no parking lot could have been approved by the Commissioner of Police for a political party campaign Support Group’s activity having known that is the only access road from the capital city centre to the official residence of the state governor and official visitors to the state.
As at the time of filing this report, thousands of Akwa Ibom residents had taken to the social media to call for the intervention of the Uyo Capital City Development Authority, UCCDA to stop the ugly trend.
The man our reporter talked to wondered if the Commissioner of Police and State Director of the DSS were aware of such ugly development.
“How on earth would you expect the Governor to drive pass there when those guys are doing something on that Place,” he queried.
The man who preferred to be called Effiong Imo said, “I know that it takes stupidity and madness to be a member of APC, reason while they refused putting banners on that building until 5am today. What is bad is bad and should be discouraged” .
Meanwhile the event which led to the traffic gridlock and alleged total security breach on Barracks road was the opening of the Buhari Campaign Support Group office for 2019 elections which was attended by the Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on National Assembly (Senate), Senator Dr. Ita Solomon Enang and other APC chieftains in the state.
However, Mr Effiong Imo had wondered why such number of youths claimed to be lazy by their President would cause such security breach on the access road leading to the official residence of their state governor.
Others who lamented the development were surprised that a president that sees anything good about the youths, and has failed to site a single project in the state be endorsed by youths in the name of politics.
