Akwa Ibom Info Boss Receives Kudos For Revolutionary Leadership
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Charles Udoh, has received commendation for his revolutionary leadership style which has impacted positively on the performance of staff and the overall productivity of the Ministry.
Speaking recently in his office to “Discover Akwa Ibom TV Documentary” Team, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Pastor Praise Okon, said the coming on board of Charles Udoh has witnessed a leap in the fortunes of the Ministry through the different programmes and initiatives floated under his watch.
Pastor Praise listed such programme to include: the Quarterly Best Information Officer/Staff Award, which has boosted staff morale and performance, geared towards enhanced productivity of the Ministry and the Udomcares series of public awareness and sensitization programmes which have elevated the profile of the Ministry in its quest at stimulating participatory governance for a cordial government/governed relationship.
He said with the setting up of Udomcares Citizen Centre by the Charles Udoh-led management, Ministry of Information and Strategy has successfully opened up access for members of the public to reach out to government and make contributions towards the governance of the state.
Pastor Praise reiterated that, the Citizen Centre which opens from Monday to Friday, within the hours of 9am to 4pm affords citizens the opportunity to send feedback, reports, views and questions to government on any sector or section of the state and get back answers and responses to their concerns, an approach he said, has brought government closer to the governed.
Emphasizing that, the Citizen Centre is a plus to democratic governance, the Permanent Secretary added that, another novelty from the stable of Charles Udoh, “Update Akwa Ibom Radio programme”, gives added advantage to participatory governance, as Sector Heads such as Commissioners in-charge of different Ministries and heads of extra-ministerial departments of government come on Live Radio to respond to concerns of citizens, present government position on issues raised and take feedback from citizens to the government to aid in development plans.
On Udom in my Community Photo/Video contest, Pastor Okon said, the campaign has not only beamed searchlight on the landmark strides of Governor Udom Emmanuel by the participating public of the programme but has also engaged the youths positively as well as open up empowerment opportunities for them.
Not only do the youths go home with N20,000 weekly and N2000 worth of recharge cards but are increasingly getting involved in photography and video production which keep them away from idleness and social vices as well as introduce them to positive means of livelihood.
Meanwhile citizens are encouraged to send in their entries for Udom in my Community Photo/Video contest or concerns, reports, questions and feedback through sms or whatsapp on phone no 09076173782 or email to firstname.lastname@example.org
