Akwa Ibom Info Boss Bags 2018 Africa’s Personality Award
The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mr. Charles Udoh, has been decorated and honoured with the 2018 Africa’s Distinguished Personality Award.
The Commissioner was decorated with a Five-Star goal plated Medal by the Trans-Africa Students Initiative, in
recognition of his immense contributions to nation building, human capacity
development, financial prudence, societal transformation, information
management, incessant benevolent act, sterling leadership qualities, and
dedicated service to Akwa Ibom government, humanity and Africa.
While congratulating the Information Boss, the team leader of Trans-Africa
Students Initiative and head of operations, Cote d’Ivore, Hon. Austine
Kouasi, said the award was bestowed on the commissioner so as to let him
know that his work speaks volume and is acknowledged within and outside the
state as well as to serve as a booster to encourage him for greater
Responding, the Mr Charles Udoh said he was overwhelmed by the encomium and sentiments expressed by the delegation which comprises of students across Africa, and thanked them for the honour done him, his family and the Ministry of Information and Strategy.
He said, after traversing different parts of the world and having had almost a 360-degree of life experience, it has been his commitment to mentor the youths and students and also lend helping hands to the needy, adding that he derives joy in seeing those he mentors grow and blossom into responsible members of the society.
Mr Udoh urged the youths in the country and across Africa to live worthy and
credible lives that will help erode the poor image painted of developing
countries by the world powers, noting that this will be achieved if they
shun societal vices such as cultism, kidnapping, ritual killings, thuggery, robbery and gangsterism among others, instead, dissipate their energies into positive and meaningful ventures.
Earlier, the acting Director of Strategy in the Ministry, Mrs. Grace Akpan, said since coming on board as the Commissioner of Information and
Strategy, Charles Udoh had brought his ingenuity to bear by floating
numerous campaigns and programmes towards engineering participatory
governance and reinventing novelty strategies to effectively project
government programmes and attract public interest and buy-in for policies
and projects of government.
The director of Strategy who said the different campaigns and programmes of the Information Boss come in varying forms and through different mode of
communication like Books, Radio/Television programmes, public sensitization campaigns and social media engagements, listed some of them to include Discover Akwa Ibom in books and Television Documentary, Update Akwa Ibom in Books and Radio programme, Udom in my Community Photo/Video Contest and the
Udomcares Citizen Centre, among others.
Mrs. Grace Akpan said, in addition to his versatility and efficiency in his
official capacity, the Mr Charles Udoh has also scored high in his private life as he is an outstanding mentor to many students and youths who have benefitted from his sponsorship, adding that he has provided educational facilities and materials to schools, sports kits to football clubs as well as float Charles Udoh Unity Cup to hunt and develop budding footballers from communities in the state.
