In a state of affairs where some take their ambitions to hold political offices as a do-or-die affair, the member representing Nsit Atai in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly (AKHA), Hon. Elder Mark Esset, has stated that his aspiration to represent his people for second term come 2019 does not stop others from contesting.
Just as former President Goodluck Jonathan clearly stated in his acceptance speech during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2014 National Convention at the Eagle Square, Abuja, that nobody’s political ambition is worth the blood of any Nigerian, Hon. Mark said that if the PDP gives ticket to any other person, as a true democrat, he will give his 100% support to the person.
The lawmaker stated this during a recent Town Hall meeting with his constituents where he disclosed his vision of uniting Nsit Atai in other to bring development in the local government.
He said: “The fact that I’m aspiring does not stop any other person from contesting for the same office, but my concern is for us to work together. And I know that my records will speak for me. Let us work as a family for our benefits.”
He used the occasion to announce his constituency briefing coming up in March, and canvassed support for Governor Udom Emmanuel’s re-election for second term in office come 2019 in order to continue his industrialisation project in Nsit Atai in particular and the state at large, and also attended to certain impressions and lies against him, remind the people of his achievements as a legislature, and chart the way forward for Nsit Atai.
He promised to attract more projects to the area and assist the youths through federal and state jobs, organize a standard Unity football tournament with free balls and jerseys to the ten wards as well as a cup and cash prize, among others. He was unanimously supported for second term.
