AKSG Set To Employ 1500 Teachers
The employment generation agenda of Governor Udom Emmanuel-led administration in Akwa Ibom State would again receive a boost as the state government had announced its decision to employ another batch of 1,500 teachers in various fields of specialization and reactivate the Aluminium Smelta Company (ALSCON) to employ more youths of the state.
The State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, announced this while shedding lights on the activities of his administration during a get together and induction of new members of a Sociopolitical Organisation in the state, Ibom Patriots held at Emerald Event Centre along Edet Akpan Avenue, Uyo.
He said that the five points agenda of his administration were vigorously pursued and expressed the hope that the agenda would enhance the living standard of the people, engender peace and fast track development of the state.
Governor Emmanuel who described the group as assemblage of Professionals fettered by the desire to ensure good governance, expressed delight at the organisation’s decision to identify with the lofty programmes of his administration and called on the organisation to build the bond of unity and stand out in the comity of states.
He enjoined the organisation to identify with the state’s advocacy on the implementation of true federalism and thanked the group for endorsing him for a second term.
The Deputy Governor, Mr Moses Ekpo described the organisation as a child of necessity saying that it role in promoting the programmes of the administration was commendable and lauded the members for their decision to endorse the Governor for a second term.
He called on the people to embrace the voters registration exercise to enable them exercise their franchise in the next general election.
The Secretary to the State Government, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem and the new State Deputy Chairman of PDP, Chief Godwin Afangide, expressed appreciation to the group for finding them fit to be inducted into the organisation.
Earlier, the Chancellor of Ibom Patriots, Obong Bassey Inuaeyen said that the group comprises a broad spectrum of the professionals who came together to form a Pan Akwa Ibom Think Tank for socio cultural, political cum economic progress and development of the state.
Obong Inuaeyen expressed satisfaction on the giant strides made by the Governor in the areas of political inclusiveness, industrialization, culture and Tourism, infrastructural consolidation, economic empowerment, power generation and supply, agriculture, economic diversification among others and declared him as the right choice for 2019 general elections.
The Chancellor thanked the Governor for the courage to embrace and mobilize intellects in the state to work with him and expressed optimism that such interface will enhance governance and speed up the process of development.
At the occasion which featured presentation of a symbolic key to the Governor, Secretary to the State Government, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem and the State Deputy Chairman of the P.D.P, Chief Godwin Afangide were formally received as members of the Ibom Patriots while the Deputy Governor, Mr Moses Ekpo, Ambassador Etim Okpoyo, Senator Anietie Okon, Senator Helen Esuene were inducted Patrons.
A total of 32 new members were inducted by the organisation.
