Akwa Ibomites Carpet APC’s Buhari Endorsement
By Samuel Anthony |
Akwa Ibomites have descended on the All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders in the state over their endorsement of President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term in office, describing it as an unpatriotic show of shame.
The state APC leaders, in a statement released Wednesday evening after an enlarged stakeholders meeting in Uyo, had endorsed the President over what they described as his superlative performance in Akwa Ibom State.
Akwa Ibom indigenes, who took to the social media spontaneously, rained abuses on the so-called stakeholders, insisting that Buhari has done nothing in the state to merit such ‘sychophantic’ endorsement.
Among reasons given by the APC as President Buhari’s strides included the dualisation of the Calabar – Itu highway, the Lagos -Uyo- Calabar railway project, the completion of the East -West Road and availability of Fuel at affordable rate, establishment of industries by the federal government, and the improved power supply in the country.
But reacting to this, the residents in the state lamented that elders who have children could rather be reduced to such petty beggers, who have no respect for dignity and human values.
The people maintained that the alleged achievements of the APC-led federal government were mere figments of the warped imaginations of the APC elders.
“As far as we are concerned, there is no project currently being undertaken by President Buhari, or the federal government in our state, and these lies are only meant to further enlarge the pockets of these hungry elders,” said Godwin Bassey, who replied from Eket.
