The good people of Nsit Atai Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State have commended Hon. Elder Mark Esset, the member representing Nsit Atai in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly (AKHA), for his superlative representation of his people.
They passed their vote of confidence on the House member during a meeting with all the 10 wards with their executives on Thursday at the Council Secretariat.
Hon. Esset thanked the people for the support given him and Governor Udom Emmanuel, and promised to continue in his representation in dexterity as he is only holding in trust their mandate.
He said that Governor Udom Emmanuel has done well for the people of Nsit Atai, and charged the people remain in good faith and not allow anybody to deceive them with tokens that cannot afford to cater their needs.
The House member used the occasion to preach peaceful coexistence among the party structure in other to bring development in the local government, saying “I summoned this meeting to address the party based on the complaints I received. There are some elements working tirelessly to the detriment of this party. I can’t sit and watch this party being destroyed while I do nothing. I am what I am today because of PDP and there is no way this party will not grow.
“Some people have abandoned the party and resorted to convening meetings in their homes. They are not doing the party any good. The party secretariat is the rightful place to hold any meeting that has to do with party. But I implore you to hold your peace. Let them keep roaming about. Remain in your position as a party. A cock is known by its crow in the morning.”
Speaking further, Hon. Esset said “You can’t do anything without the party structure. I worked with the party structure I inherited as party chairman till it was changed. Throughout my tenure, I hosted every meeting in the party hall. There are those who never returned the secretariat since the day they were given the party ticket.
“Let me correct the wrong impression that the House Member has never celebrated with Nsit people during Christmas. That is false. It is in record that in 2015 during the December meeting, Baba Ntan donated N1 million, Bassey Albert gave us 100 bags of rice, council chairman gave 100 bags of rice, I could not buy rice again because we had enough, but I gave N1 million and it was shared to everyone. I also donated N1 million in 2016. Probably they expected me to bring more rice added to the already provided 200 bags.
“My vision is how Nsit Atai can move together, because I believe that if we join our hands together, we will bring development in the local government. There is no need for all the unnecessary sentiments. The fact that I’m aspiring does not stop any other person from aspiring for the same office, but my concern is for us to work together. Let us work as a family for our benefits.”
He used the occasion to announce his constituency briefing coming up in March this year, and canvassed support for Governor Udom Emmanuel’s re-election for second term in office come 2019 in order to continue his industrialisation project in Nsit Atai in particular and the state at large.

He charged the people to always remember tomorrow and have it at the back of their minds that it is today that sustains tomorrow.
He called on the party executives to beware of what they do and those they work with because not all that glitters are gold. “Whether you like it or not, you are holding this party on trust. You are being monitored on whatever you do on a daily basis.”
Rt. Hon. Raphael thanked Hon. Mark Esset for summoning the meeting and solicited for it to be held regularly.
