Akwa Ibom State Government has absolved rumours making the rounds linking the out-gone member of the State Executive Council and erstwhile Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Udo Ekpenyong, to financial misappropriation.

This was contained in a release signed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Charles Udoh, and made available to newsmen.

According to the release, the government frowns at insinuations circulating in the media that Udo Ekpenyonyong was relieved of his portfolio on grounds of financial misappropriation, emphasizing that, the erstwhile Commissioner had throughout his stay in government service, displayed a commendable level of integrity and diligence.

It reiterated that, the out-gone Local Government and Chieftaincy Boss was at no time found culpable of financial impropriety nor any unethical practice while in office, and urged perpetrators of the hideous act to desist forth with.

The Information Commissioner explained that, the exit of Hon. Udo Ekpenyong from the State Executive Council was part of government continuous effort to re-jig the governance structure of the state, which started less than two months ago with the swearing-in of two new Commissioners.

With the clarification, the state government once again expressed appreciation to Hon. Udoh Ekpenyong for the quality contributions made while in office and wished him well in his future endeavours.
