Akpabio’s Visit Symbolic For Fallen Military Heroes, Says Gov Emmanuel

Governor Udom Emmanuel has lauded Senator Godswill Akpabio, other lawmakers, and political chieftains in Akwa Ibom state for their significant role to this year’s Armed Forces Emblem Launch, describing their new year visit as unprecedented.
Governor Emmanuel who spoke to Government House reporters in Uyo yesterday shortly after being decorated with the emblem by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr. Glory Edet, said the 2018 remembrance celebration was unique.
“This is the first time on our Emblem Launch day, we have representatives of the National Assembly led by no other person than the immediate past Governor and also the Senate Minority leader, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio and other members of the State House of Assembly, National Assembly, the ruling party in the state and even the political grandfather of the State, Chief Michael Afangideh.”
He described 2018 as a very remarkable year, where the state was ready to show respect to its fallen heroes, and pledged his readiness to continue supporting the families of the slain heroes.
The Governor maintained that his administration will remain focused and committed to making life, the economy and the entire living standard better for everybody including the families of the departed.
“We at this moment also join the families that they left behind at this moment to remember those heroes and also as a state promise that we will continue to stand by them.”
Mr Emmanuel who also appreciated the state Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, said the Ministry has overtime been taking care of both the legends and the wives of the fallen Heroes.
He further invited everyone to the thanksgiving service on Sunday as well as the grand finale which holds Monday January 15 at the State Cenotaph along Udo Udoma Way, Uyo.
Senate Minority Leader Godswill Akpabio, who was also decorated with an Armed Forces emblem by the Women Affairs Commissioner, told reporters that he led the team on a solidarity visit on the Governor to extend their support to his leadership in the new year.
