Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, is committed to equitably distribute dividends of democracy to all sections of the state devoid of political inclination as roads are constructed across all parts of the state; free and compulsory basic education is for every Akwa Ibom child; and government takes care of all Akwa Ibom children from the womb to secondary school level without seeking party cards of their parents.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Charles Udoh, stated this on Thursday during an AKBC Radio Ibibio ‘Akwa Ibom Abodie’ programme, adding that the Governor is poise to ensure sustainable development for Akwa Ibom State that will outlive his administration.
According to him, “Everything government is doing and will ever do is to ensure that things get better for Akwa Ibomites. Our Governor, despite the hard times, has tried pretty hard to make things better in our State compared to what is obtainable in other states.
“The prompt payment of salaries is one major achievement of our Governor. The free, compulsory and qualitative education policy and free healthcare service for pregnant women and the aged as well as payment of WAEC fees for secondary school students are other strides worthy of mention.”
Speaking further, the Info Boss noted that Akwa Ibom children are taken care of right from the womb up to secondary school level and even to WAEC level. Even in sports, the State is not left behind as the teams (Akwa United Football Club and Ibom Angels Football Club) are now forces to reckon with in the country.
“Job opportunities have also been created as a result of the establishment of several cottage industries in the State. Youths in the state no longer pay particular attention to the Civil Service, but have discovered what they are good at, and presented themselves for employment at the various industries.
“The roads built by our Governor are quality roads built to standard to stand the test of time. Government has also emphasised the need to invest in agriculture and equally focused the attention of Akwa Ibomites in that direction.”
Mr Udoh also emphasised on the innovative attempts to boast the tourism potentials of the State through the Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s recent activities like #OrangeSeptember and #Ukapisua, saying that businesses across board received a boast and entrepreneurs made massive profit within the period of the carnivals.
According to him, Governor Emmanuel has taken the health and wellbeing of Akwa Ibomites seriously as shown in the rehabilitation of the Etinan General Hospital, Anua Hospital and other medical facilities in the State.
He said that Governor Emmanuel, in his loving, kind-hearted and sensitive nature, is committed to alleviate the sufferings and make business easier for transport operators by suspending ticketing on Thursdays and public holidays.
“Injection stations have been built in Uyo and areas like Osongama, Shelter Afrique etc have had about 18 hours of constant power supply. Another has been built at the Airport and Ekim in Mkpat Enin which when activated will provide steady power in those areas and beyond. I urge Akwa Ibomites to be patient with the Governor as he has good thoughts for the State.
“Governor Udom has set up a special monitoring body to monitor activities of various parastatals in the State. Government issued a statement some time ago reiterating that education is free in the State. If anyone charges you any illegal levy, report to the education monitoring team, Ministry of education and even the Ministry of Information.”
Describing Governor Emmanuel as a truthful and honest leader who promised to touch every nook and cranny of the State, Mr Udoh urged Akwa Ibomites to be patient with him as he is working tirelessly to deliver dividends of good governance in every domain before the expiration of his government.
He called on all to bury political differences and unite in love with Governor Udom Emmanuel to build a state that all will be proud of because Akwa Ibom belongs to all.
