REVEALED: How APC Smuggled Thugs, Ammunitions For #AKSLGElections
…The Police Helicopter Connection
By our reporter |
Fresh facts have emerged on how the APC were able to smuggle close to 600 thugs and a large catche of ammunitions into Akwa Ibom state not minding the tight security put in place by the police commissioner in the state.
At the just concluded local government election reports went viral on social and in other media platforms that more than 560 fully armed thugs from Rivers and Delta States were camped in a house believed to belong to an APC chieftain.
This information which came in on the later part of Saturday left many people wondering how these ungodly men found their way into the state with tight security and curfew placed by the police commissioner who promised a hitch free election.
However, fresh information at our disposal has it that the thugs and ammunitions were smuggled into the state by Chief Iniebehe Okorie, an APC chieftain in the state.
A source who wants to remain anonymous told our reporter that Chief Okorie through the connivance of some persons in the police used the “Police helicopter” to ferry the thugs from Rivers, Delta and others states into Akwa Ibom.
The source who is a very close friend to the Personal Assistant to Chief Okorie, Mr. Udoidiong Innocent said that Innocent told him that when his boss started building an helipad in his expansive compound few months ago, he wondered what it was meant for since his boss do not own an helicopter neither was he in government that would warrant the use of helicopters but with the usage of the police helicopter to bring in thugs and ammunitions for the Saturday election, he now understands his boss better.
Describing the thugs who were dressed in Blue Jeans trousers and black T-shirts as “heavily built men who were ready to kill any one who stood by their way”, our source said that it was because of the heavy presence of military men on major roads in the state that hindered Chief Okorie and his APC cohorts from unleashing majority of the thugs to create havoc in different parts of the state apart from Ikot Ekpene local government area because Chief Sunny Ibanga had assured them that he had the military in control.
Our investigation so far have collaborated with the pictures posted online by the overexcited PA to Chief Okorie, Mr. Udoidiong Innocent who amongst others posed with the helicopter parked at the resident of Chief Okorie.
What is rather not certain in the whole matter is the role of the police in these matter as an informant from the state police headquarters who craved anonymity noted that the police is unaware of the use of the helipad. When our reporter pulled a call through to the police Public Relations Officer PPRO, DSP Elkana Bala, his number was out of reach and every attempt to get Chief Okorie to react to the story proved abortive.
With the use of thugs by APC to cart away ballot boxes as well as disrupt Saturday’s election, it is certain that those who participated in election malpractice will not go unpunished as noted by governor Udom who assured that electoral offences would not be tolerated irrespective of party affiliations as all those involved in electoral violence will face the full wrath of the law.
