Nsit Atai Counts Blessings As Eminence Oil Fetes Women, Youths
It was a colourful event on Sunday, 26 November, at Ikot Itieudung, the country home of the MD/CEO of Eminence Oil and Chemical, Mr Emmanuel Okon, as he doled out 300 pieces of wrapper, food, and cash to the women, youths, and elders in Nsit Atai Local Government Area.
Addressing the people who were physically elated, Mr Emmanuel said that God has answered their prayers through Governor Udom Emmanuel who is committed to better their lives.
He maintained that gone are the days that Nsit Atai people laboured for government without tangible dividend, but under the Udom Emmanuel-administration, they have seen good dividends of democracy because the Governor believes in empowering his people.
The Ambassador of Empowerment, as the Eminence Oil boss is fondly called further said that he is replicating the good works of the Governor in Nsit Atai to ensure that the people see and feel the positive impact of the government, adding that the Governor cannot be every place, but has their interest at heart.
He posited that it was his resolve to make sure that the people of Nsit Atai reap from their electoral labour by massively empowering them, and encouraged them to continue in their support for Governor Udom Emmanuel beyond 2019.
Mr Okon called on the people of Nsit Atai to support Lady Emem Ibanga for the chairmanship position, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming local government election scheduled for Saturday, 2nd December, assuring them that more good things will come to Nsit Atai as they remain steadfast and resolute in their support for Governor Udom Emmanuel beyond 2019.
Also speaking, Prince Sunday Elijah, who recently defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to PDP, commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for his visionary leadership in the state, saying that there is no other political party that can defeat the governor come 2019.
He described the event as a new dawn in Nsit Atai where selfless people have come on board politically to address the plights of the people, adding that the people have every reason to enjoy the dividends of democracy if all those in positions of authority will contribute their quota to the welfare of the people.
Prince Elijah described Mr Okon as a true friend of the Governor who is very honest and committed to touching lives on behalf of Mr Udom Emmanuel. He called on the people to continue in their prayer for the Governor and Mr Okon.
Earlier, Mr Okon received the executive members of Idung Ita, an association of Nsit Atai indigenes leaving in Calabar, Cross River State who were on a solidarity visit to him.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the President of the association, Mr Cletus Asuquo, said that Idung Ita is a forum of Nsit Atai people in Calabar who are very much interested in the politics of Nsit Atai and Akwa Ibom State, and are ready to mobilize more people in support of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s second term.
He intimated Mr Okon that their intention is to visit him and declare their support for him and the Governor, and also use the opportunity to undergo voters registration in Nsit Atai so that they can fully participate in all the elections in the state.
Mr Asuquo disclosed that the group is made up of committed PDP members who are ready at anytime to deliver PDP.
Responding, Mr Okon thanked the group for their interest in the local government and the state, and assured them that he will work with them and support their programmes in support of the PDP and Governor Udom Emmanuel.
He commended them for their sacrifice in support of PDP in making sure that they all have voters card, and called on those without voters card to emulate them so that they can deliver PDP in all elections.
Highpoint of the event were the induction of Mr Emmanuel Okon as the Patron of the group, distribution of wrappers to the women, food and cash to all groups who were present.
The event had in attendance the Special Assistant to the Governor on Grassroots Reorientation, Mr Joseph Okon; Chapter Chairman of PDP in Nsit Atai, Mr Chrisantus Okon; Mr Victor, and many other personalities.
