African Church At 116: What It Stands For
The African Church having 7 Provinces, more than 40 Dioceses, about 700 Ministers and more than 20 million members is Celebrating her 116yrs as a Church today.
The Church came out from the present day Anglican Communion because of some levels of marginalization etc by the then European administration. On 13th OCT 1901. Even at that the Yorubas seems to be the majority in certain areas.
The Church is unique in practices.
Very lovely/peaceful with a Transparent Government.
Our Vision is:
Light to all Nations.
To shine the Gospel light to all people, making them disciples, teaching them to obey Jesus Christ, and reminding them of His Second coming.
Our Mission is:
To Proclaim Jesus Christ Faithfulness.
To Declare the ways of the Lord to our world, so that they can live a righteous life and seek their salvation with fear and trembling.
To constantly remind the world of the second coming of Lord and joyously await Him.
To promote love, Peace, Justice and cordial relationship with other members of the body of Christ.
To raise and train men and women to carry on the work in every Nation.
The African Church has two unifying houses.
– House of Clergy (all ordained Ministers)
– House of laity (all Elected officers & lay men) The house of Clergy is the powerful.
Moreso all must come together to discuss the common goal in General Conference, Committee etc.
His Eminence Dr. Emmanuel Udofia the 1st Akwa Ibom Son is the President/Primate of The African Church Nigeria and Overseas, he preside over all Meeting except the finance committee who is presided over by the lay President Evang O. Okunowo.
The African Church is open to all Christian to become members, we also Welcome those that left the because of Change of location etc and the foundation of the Church is as pure as Jesus Christ.
Despite our common challenges caused by some factors, we are still waxing strong and working in line with our Vision/Mission Statement.
The African Church accept the Holy Bible and the Standard of faith being necessary for salvation, and practicing all commandment and instructions therein.
We have our Constitution being Our guiding tools for administration.
Even though we belong to the orthodox circle however the Church is as Modern as the present day due to well trained and dynamic Ministers.
Recently, the Government of Akwa Ibom State gave an Award of Excellence to the Primate, Dr. Emmanuel Udofia, on his outstanding performance during the 30th Anniversary Celebration.
The African Church does not go against any political participation by any member, but those who involve in same must play according to the rules.
