Gov Emmanuel’s Star Shining Across N/Delta
By Micheal Joseph Okon
The just concluded National Security Summit and the unfolding events that surrounded the occasion have further added more feathers to the cap of honour and competence of the Chief Executive Officer of the only state named after God, Akwa Ibom State. Listening to Mr Udom Emmanuel tackle issues head on before global view in favour of this great state remains indelible in patriotic hearts.
Unperturbed by possible misgivings, Mr Emmanuel wasted no time in reminding the Federal Government that Akwa Ibom State deserves better treatment in monthly allocations, infrastructural development, relocation of International Oil Companies’ (IOCs) headquarters to the state, the need to non-politicization of Regional Institutions like the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for effective collaborations.
Sangfroid Udom Emmanuel with his normal humbling soothing voice drove home multiple points with precision while keeping everyone glued to every carefully drafted audacious statements. We could never have been more proud than to witness this state under capable hands, watchful eyes and apt intellects of a leader constantly on a mission to deliver the demands of the divine mandate to his people.
No one is willing to fan further excitements that greeted the direct confrontation to shoddy jobs undertaken by NDDC over the years and the inherent corruption that bedevils the well politicized APC-NDDC under a head who desperately seeks to garner funds from our collective patrimony for his failed gubernatorial aspiration. Yet we are compelled in unrestrained worthy applause to Mr Udom Emmanuel for saying the truth as it were, while the unfortunate NDDC MD sat uncomfortably listening to the Governor he has refused to acknowledge by avoiding every state function that would have him address the incumbent Governor as ‘His Excellency’.
While waiting to hear Nsima Ekere address the Governor as His Excellency, the gods thought it otherwise and knocked off his puffy planned presentation. Truly, the gods are wise.
Disgracefully for the NDDC MD, he went to the security summit with all pomp and pride to present a paper with the unholy intent of fanning further his over bloated ego, only to have such hopes dashed by the very God that specializes in humbling the proud. Nature has a way of cornering the cocky for disgrace, if Mr MD of NDDC was not billed to present a paper at the security summit, he would never have attended the event so as to avoid the protocol deserved of him to the number one office.
Be that as it may, Mr Nsima Ekere bowed to Mr Udom Emmanuel in shame. To Nsima Ekere and team, the security summit experience shall not be forgotten in a hurry.
In a failed attempt to cover up for their inability to executive an insignificant 1km road in the state, NDDC rushed to combat over Youth Avenue road with the Akwa Ibom State Government with the intention of swindling the federal government further.
It’s no longer news that while Udom Emmanuel shines on, desperadoes are losing loyalists in droves even as fake contract papers litter the nook and crannies of our beloved state.
The likes of Obong Sunny Elijah with over 2000 decampees joining the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) speaks volume of the wide acceptability of Mr Udom Emmanuel’s result-oriented leadership.
Nothing can be compared to capable leadership. Leadership is everything, great leaders like Mr Udom Emmanuel are rare, the more reason he must serve us beyond 2019.
