#NigeriaAt57: Gov Emmanuel Pledges Allegiance To A’Ibom Dev’ment
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, has reiterated his commitment to making the an industrial hub of Africa, saying that he will do all he can to move the state forward by pursuing and implementing policies and programmes that will put food on the table of every Akwa Ibomites.
He gave the assurance while delivering his speech on the occasion of 57th Nigeria’s Independence celebration at the Uyo Township Stadium on Sunday, 1st October, 2017.
Gov Emmanuel said: “Let me use this opportunity to thank our people for the show of love and unity they displayed during the festivities that marked our 30th Anniversary last weekend. You really made us proud.
“I want to pledge here that as long as I remain your Servant Leader, I will do all I can to move this State forward by pursuing and implementing policies and programmes that will put food on the table, ensure quality and affordable education for our kids, a healthy and vibrant populace and a youth population that earns a living through the works of their hands as opposed to begging for a living.
“Our faith in the National Project remains sacrosanct. Our industrialization drive as a state is on course and I want to also use this opportunity to thank the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN for honouring us with his esteemed presence and for commissioning our two life-touching projects that sign-post our industrialization drive – the Syringe Manufacturing Company, the Metering Solutions Company, as well as our newly reconstructed Etinan General Hospital.”
He also expressed appreciation to the Armed Forces for gallant efforts in fighting insurgency and other security challenges in the country.
Gov Emmanuel noted that Nigeria is on the march; Akwa Ibom State is also on the march and “together, we are moving gloriously to the land of economic prosperity, political inclusion, wealth and job creations, and the expansion and consolidation of our infrastructural amenities.”
Also in their goodwill messages, Hon. Justice Godwin J. Abraham, Chief Judge, Akwa Ibom State, and the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly (AKHA) Speaker, Barr. Onofiok Luke, congratulated Nigeria for her 57th Independence anniversary as a country.
Students and pupils from different public and private schools in the state turned up for a march pass during the event, while Governor Udom Emmanuel took the salute.
