Nigeria, Africa’s Topmost Investment Destination –Umanah
Despite the slow pace of economic activities of the last two years, Nigeria has been described as a preferred investment destination in Sub Saharan Africa.
The President of African Media Network (AMNETT), Mr. Aniekan Umanah, made this remarks at the just concluded All Africa Media Conference in Cape Town, South Africa where he insisted that Nigeria, with a population of over 192 million people, according to UN statistics and going by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in its Q2 reports, is finally staging a comeback with over 35 percent return on investment.
He commended the recently launched Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) 2017-2020 of Nigerian Government which had the objective of bringing the economy out of recession and placing it on the path of sustainable and inclusive growth.
On a round table discussion on country’s economic outlook and planning data, Mr Umanah said there are huge investment opportunities in Nigeria, particularly in power/energy, agriculture, petroleum and allied products as well as transportation and solid minerals.
The President and Chief Programmes Officer of AMNETT used the occasion to extend invitation to foreign investors and organizations to take advantage of the investment opportunities and invest in Nigeria.
He also charged investors to maximise the untapped potentials particularly in the labour market and energy offered by the Nigerian youths, adding that Nigerians are always receptive to new ideas, new neighbors and friends who means well for them and their resources.
