Ita Enang: The Rat In Aso Villa …Runs Amok To Save Job
By Ubong Akpan
Ita Solomon Enang, born 23 August 1962, a Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters (Senate), is a Nigerian politician who represented the Itu and Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency of Akwa Ibom State in the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2011. He was elected Senator for the Uyo North East Senatorial District of Akwa Ibom in the 2011 Federal elections.
Senator Ita Enang was appointed SSA to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters (Senate) on 27 August 2015. Since his appointment, rather than focus on the jurisdiction of his appointment, Ita Enang has been launching series of hate speeches on his home state particularly the Governor.
In 2016, while fielding questions from journalists at his residence in Uyo, the state capital, Mr Enang had accused the immediate past governor of the state, now Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, of using the people of the state as collateral for loan, saying that he did nothing with the allocation he received from the federation account throughout his eight year tenure in office since 2007 to 2015.
The height of his hate campaigns against the state is his recent interview in Uyo, crediting the achievements of the state to his boss, President Muhammadu Buhari, who is to spend three months working from home due his office being infested by RATS while he was out of the country for over 105 days on a health related vacation in London.
Ita Enang, sensing danger of losing his job following the proverb-seeming speech of Mr President demanding renovation of his office after the ‘furniture and air conditioning’ were damaged by RATS in his absence – a speech, when interpreted, could mean a cabinet shakeup, and he (Ita Enang) could definitely be affected – scampered to save his job.
While granting interview to journalists in Uyo over the weekend, Mr Enang said the President has delivered enough dividends of democracy to Akwa Ibom in line with its position as the highest revenue earner for the country, and listed the projects executed by the President to include the N56 billion Calabar-Itu-Ikot Ekpene Road with a spur to Ididep; the $11 billion Lagos-Uyo-Calabar railroad project as well as the appointments of prominent indigenes into prominent federal positions.
He solicited that Buhari be supported for a second term so that he can complete all the lofty visions he has started in the state. What an outcry of a man who runs around in a wild, unruly, out-of-control and chaotic manner in order to remain relevant to the President.
While acknowledging the contributions of Governor Udom Emmanuel in the State, Senator Enang however said the credit should go to President Buhari who released the state’s allocation to the Governor to construct toothpicks factory, tomatoes farm, cattle ranch, and the roads. He said the State Government is operating a feeding bottle economy to the Federal Government and doesn’t have internally generated revenue (IGR) that could be accounted for.
There are many other reasonable means Mr Ita Enang can explore to save himself from being fumigated alongside other RATS in the White House.
