By Enwongo Akpan
A former Commissioner for Science and Technology in Akwa Ibom State, Hon Samuel Effanga, has led the first batch of over 200 defectors to the Peoples Democratic Party (APC), with the promise that the entire All Progressives Party (APC) fold in Uyo will be emptied into the PDP in the months ahead.
In a short speech to formally announce his return to the PDP on Wednesday at the La Sein Event Centre, Uyo, the former Commissioner and former House of Representatives candidate said his brief stay in the APC was filled with regrets as he was shocked to find out that the impunity in APC was more suffocating than in any other party in Nigeria.
“I left the warmth of the PDP family with the hope that I was going to find more warmth in the APC only to be greeted by a high level of impunity. I want to say that I am back to the party that I truly belong to. A party that produced the present Governor who in the past two years has made impressive and result-oriented efforts in delivery on his campaign promises.”
He said the over 200 defectors who are leaders of thoughts in their various political bloc and circles have already begun the process of convincing their allies and supporters to return to the warm and beckoning embrace of the PDP in Akwa Ibom state.
