Gov Emmanuel Commissions Power Infrastructure, New Road, Others
The stage was set for the total industrialization of Akwa Ibom and urbanization as the State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, commissioned some strategic urban infrastructure in the state on Tuesday, 11th July, 2017, in line with his infrastructure expansion and consolidation agenda.
The projects include, the Nda Nsit- Ikot Abasi- Ibesikpo Road and the 33/11kva, 2x15MVA injection substation along Nsikak Eduok Avenue in Uyo.
The pertinence of these two projects commissioned cannot be overemphasized as the power substation would, to a very large extent, ameliorate the problems of erratic supply of electricity in the Uyo capital city and its environs, while encouraging Small and Medium Enterprises in the state, in consonance with His Excellency’s five-point agenda.
Similarly, the Nda Nsit- Ikot Abasi – Ibesikpo road which networks over 15 communities and three local Government Areas would enhance the process of agrarian transformation, agricultural revolution and business enterprise in these areas. Agricultural produce and goods would easily be conveyed to the markets where they are needed. Also, it will encourage social networking and cultural diffusion in these areas.
The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, during his reception by the Ibibio people at the ancestral arena, Asan Ibibio in Uyo on Monday, reiterated his administration’s commitment to fulfilling his promises to the people of the state.
He noted that the state power plant generates 150 megawatt of electricity, saying that his administration is poised to do more for the people of the state, and added that his government does not discriminate against political inclination, ethnic differences or religious denomination.
“God brought us to serve the people and the people of Akwa Ibom we will serve”.
On the Nsit Atai road project, he said that he would commission the road to open up the area after several years.
He also narrated his interventions in the secondary health sector of the state, saying his administration has revamped the general hospitals that were in a poor state.
“The secondary health care facilities are springing up everywhere and my people were asking me to commission an ultramodern General Hospital in Etinan. I told Etinan people that is the kind of project I want the Acting President to commission. So Etinan people, don’t worry because that is why I am here to serve the people.”
The Governor used the visit to Nsit Atai to also commission a civic centre at Idiaba.
