Oruk Anam Crisis: Imagination From Ghost Publishers
The Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Traders Matters, Akparawa Idorenyin Raphael, has described The Post and Sensor Newspapers as ghost publishers whose offices are not traceable within the Uyo metropolis.
He made the ascertion while reacting to the Monday, 19 June edition of the two newspaper outfits with the rider, “Oruk Anam Boils! Three Killed, 12 Injured, 11 Cars Destroyed Over Martha Udom’s N2m Gift” and Martha Udom’s Lagess: Violence Errupts In Oruk Anam” respectively, a publication intended to mislead the general public.
Mr Idorenyin, in a statement made available to newsmen, said, “Although it is not in my character to join issues with expressions as propagated by The Post, Sensor Newspapers and their likes, but for unsuspecting members of the public who may be hoodwinked to believe the lies and propaganda of these Newspapers, I undertake to make these clarifications, that, after going through the garbage churned out by these Newspapers, I discovered that this can only be the handiwork of mischief makers and the result of a very fertile imagination capable of producing a bestseller fiction, as the publishers of those innuendos deliberately went on that exercise so as to disparage and drag into mud, the image of Akwa Ibom Traders.”
The Governor’s Aide maintained that, “No Trader(s) was/were neither murdered, injured nor their cars destroyed as speculated by these sponsored hirelings. So for The Post, Sensor and their likes to go to press and churn out such garbage to Akwa Ibom people, to say the least, portrays the kind of poorly trained staff in their employ.”
According to Mr Raphael, the unholy narrative that people were murdered, injured and cars destroyed either before, during or after the commissioning ceremony exists only in the imagination of the peddlers of such act.
“So, I on behalf of the Traders, call on members of the public to ignore the story and continue to keep faith with the present government under the able leadership of Mr Udom Emmanuel who has a very supporting woman as a wife.
“We continue to pledge and hereby reiterate our total loyalty to the Udom-led administration and pray God Almighty to guide him through his second term in office,” he added.
