Gov Emmanuel: Leading A’Ibom Beyond Hard Times
Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has restated his administration’s commitment to building the capacity of the state’s workforce for optimal performance and quality service delivery.
The Governor stated this while declaring open the second module of a capacity building retreat organised for members of the State Executive Council with the theme “Leading Akwa Ibom State Beyond Hard Times” held at Le Meridien Ibom Hotel And Golf Resort, Uyo.
He said “Adequate exposure to knowledge enhances efficiency and creativity in service delivery,” noting that the theme of the retreat was a response to the need of the times, and urged the participants to take advantage of the knowledge gained in the retreat to provide quality leadership in their respective departments.
Governor Emmanuel said the second module of the retreat was divided into two categories namely knowledge acquisition which is an exposition in responsibility, excellence, Integrity and compassion in leadership and God’s Quality management system as entrenched in the Holy Bible.
Speaking to Government House Correspondents shortly after the retreat, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Charles Udoh, who was flanked by Dean of Commissioners, Dr Glory Edet and Commissioner for Transport and Petroleum Resources, Mr Oman Esin, expressed appreciation to the Governor for the opportunity given them to update their knowledge in contemporary management and leadership strategy.
Mr Charles Udoh said that the knowledge gained would aid in the implementation of the vision and goals of the administration.
The Director General Institute for National Transformation, Professor Vincent Anigbogu, said that the training underscored the need to cultivate quality management, strategic planning and project execution skills.
Highpoint of the retreat was the presentation of a Toyota Car to the Commissioner for Transport, Mr Oman Esin, by Governor Udom Emmanuel for his outstanding performance in a test conducted during the first module held earlier at Lagos to demonstrate the development of a strategic plan and setting of critical goals with key performance indicators in key projects.
