APC Attacks Sen. Akpabio For Commending Wike’s Achievement Over FG
Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State and Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has come under fire for saying that Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has achieved more than President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government.
Sen. Akpabio made the disclosure while addressing journalists recently after accompanying Gov. Wike on a tour of on-going projects in Rivers State.
he opined that “Governor Wike has done more work and projects in the last two years than the Federal Government. That is my considered opinion,” adding that “Performance is not necessarily an issue of the availability of resources. If your state gets N5 billion, do projects of that amount. If you get N1 billion, do projects commensurate with that figure.
For Governor Wike, he has judiciously applied the scarce resources available to the state to develop needed infrastructure.
This has caused the APC youths urging the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to probe Senator Akpabio.
A mild drama ensued at the APC Senate caucus meeting as the Sen. Akpabio was stopped from gate-crashing into the meeting, as a security aide immediately barricaded the entrance when the former governor attempted opening the door, and he had to explain that he wanted to whisper into the ears of the Senate President.
The meeting which started close to two hours earlier and presided by Chief John Odigie Oyegun behind closed doors, left journalists and aides waiting at the balcony of hearing room 022.
The Senate Minority leader, who was suddenly sighted heading towards the meeting venue, became the cynosure of all, hence, some journalists rushed to see what was happening.
All efforts to make him speak on reasons he wanted to see Mr. Senate President at that auspicious time proved abortive as he kept sealed lips while he left.
The Senate caucus meeting with Chief John Odigie Oyegun national working Committee was the first of its kind since APC took over governance in 2015.
