Udom Emmanuel: Gearing Up A 2nd Feat
Come May 29, 2017, the curtains will once again unveil a second time, a platform, fora and avenue to celebrate a distinct, impressive and quality brand who will launch himself yet on a successful second footing as a distinguishing leader. The 2019 guber race is quite far off now though some greedy folks, wailers and not-do-well goons are busy drawing it near out of desperation, idleness and realisation that we had long finished elections and right-thinking leaders are poised for true governance. Ready indeed to deliver the goodies of democracy to the long yearning Akwa Ibom people.
Sure most of us don’t know when to walk away and when to run… but let’s get deeper with these words on the marble…
“Don’t go looking for a good woman until you, yourself, have become a good man. You must meet the requirements of your requirements.”
The aforementioned lines better describes the men/women on the other side. For how on earth most of us who glad our egos as reputable politicians who have been there and done that just will follow the pathway of greed, selfishness and myopic disposition to fry ourselves out from a reliable stewing oil garnished with all ingredients of a palatable dish into a pot whose cooking ingredients are being brought down without salt to taste. It’s absolutely a choice though.
I personally get disappointed, brew self pity and sympathise with vibrant brains worthy (then) of emulation but today have chosen to indulge themselves in playing retrogressive politics and crumbling the entire political empire they toiled to build over the years in just a swing of a mad, unthinkable and destructive decision.
The current trend of their self-destruction is this wave of jumping party ship. Today, they are in party ‘A’, the next moment, they are in ‘B’ and in another ‘swift move’, they are in ‘C’, ‘D’ and ‘E’ and back to ‘A’. Sad!
But just as they are busy wasting their energy in ventures that won’t yield them bountifully in the future, Governor Udom Emmanuel had long hit the economic fortunes of Akwa Ibomites running with premium expectations of unimaginable harvest. The moment the realisation of how far His Excellency has gone, the queue of those monitoring progress since May 29, 2015 when he got the full divine mandate of Akwa Ibom people as their leader, our team will be top ranking and far off their comparative analysis.
Two years on, Governor Udom Emmanuel has attained superlative, sustainable and unprecedented feat. Over the past two years, this administration has constructed over 700km of roads. It’s thus concrete that by May 29, 2017, His Excellency, Gov. Udom Emmanuel, will be commissioning strategic, economic and land-marking road projects aimed at opening Akwa Ibom up to more investment and industrial opportunities. On the list billed for commissioning during his second anniversary are;
Mbiaso/Nto-Edino/Ekwere Azu Road in Obot Akara LGA. It has a phase one and two measuring over 4.5km;
Ikot Oku Ikono Road in Uyo LGA;
Atan Offot Road in Uyo metropolis;
Ntiero Street in Uyo;
Ikot Osop Road in Mkpat Enin LGA;
Eket-Ibeno Road dualisation;
Obio Etoi Road behind Secretariat Annex where construction is intensifying now;
Ndon Esit Road that connects Nsit Atai and Ibeisikpo LGA; and
Ikot Ebiere Road in Onna LGA.
Aside the completion and commissioning of the aforementioned roads come May 29, 2017, numerous other projects will be on the roll call as we celebrate two (2) lofty years of sustainable development of the Udom Emmanuel administration. As we keep counting down to the D-day activities, layout and expectations will unveil.
Time is always one factor that judges everyman according to your deeds. But don’t allow yourself to be weighed, measured and be found wanting.
