Nsima Ekere And His Fake NDDC Contract Claims… Putting The Records Straight
Recently, there have been some wild goose chase and wanton display of desperation, greed, selfishness and lost desire by the Chairman of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr Nsima Ekere, himself a perpetual and all-season gubernatorial aspirant in virtually all elections since 2007.
Ekere nowadays parades himself as the anointed candidate for the 2019 guber race under his purported claimed platform of the embattled Akwa Ibom All Progressive Congress (APC). One thing keeps mesmerising me how sudden he has become progressively addictive after these numerous years in the PDP, a party that made him a substantial chairman of a renowned state investment agency, a deputy governor and stakeholder. Wonders indeed shall never end.
Pundits are of the view that like Esau, Ekere threw away and sold his chances of becoming governor in 2007 when he opted for a pact with then Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Obong Ufot Ekaette, to make way for Senator Godswill Akpabio (then) Governor, and accepted the position of Deputy Governor then which he as well lost out on the bid due to power high play and last minute decision count.
Though he was later to be compensated with a chairmanship of Akwa Ibom Investment Promotion Company (APIICO) and later as deputy governor in 2011 when Akpabio had his second tenure running as Governor. From there, henceforth seemingly unsatisfied, insatiable and greedy, Nsima has been on the count of every guber election till date.
One had reasoned with his new profile as Chairman of NDDC, he will face his new assignment squarely and convincingly rather than use the platform as a campaign office ahead of 2019. Staff of the agency who spoke in anonymity complained the reckless abuse of public office and diversion of project funds hitherto designed, conceptualised and paper works completed by the past administration of Dan Abia and Ibim Seminitari, the later who was Rotimi Amaechi’s Commissioner for Information who took over to complete the remaining months of Dan Abia.
Most worrisome and blowing blatant lies is Nsima’s lay of claims to most internal roads rehab within Uyo Metropolis. Late January, a local tabloid, Global Concord, published most of the roads executed by NDDC in Uyo and gave credited chronology to Nsima Ekere’s leadership whereas the truth reveals that all the roads under construction and some completed were ab initio designed, paper work completed and were all awaiting kick off/mobilisation but not for the short tenure of the former chairpersons of the agency.
He should sit up and face his job rather than take glory for projects that are not his direct initiatives. Besides, all funds of the NDDC are meant for the execution of life touching and impacting projects for the wellbeing of the Niger Delta people and not for a personal and selfish ambition of just one individual who has turned the agency into a campaign organisation.
He is busy awarding all the contracts to his political friends, associates and cronies to steam his bid as governor in 2019. Projects of the agency goes through due process of bidding before it is awarded but Nsima and his cohorts have used them as a tool of mobilisation for politicians especially his All Progress Congress (APC) members in Akwa Ibom and Rivers States.
One wonders whether Akwa Ibom politicians of APC extraction are supposed to be direct and exclusive preserve beneficiaries of NDDC projects/contracts award. Is this how he intends to govern Akwa Ibom State if he wins in 2019? With his divide and rule approach in public administration/resource, management… winner takes it all dimension. Nsima Ekere we know over time can never change, he hardly parts with a kobo without gaining something back. This his craving to becoming governor at all cost in collaboration with traitor Amaechi will never work.
Akwa Ibom sure has grown above that level of chronic liars, selfish men, hypocrites and those poised for revenge will come back again thinking they can deceive and cow us into assuming them as saints. Is it not the same Nsima Ekere who fought Udoedeghe-led ACN to a standstill in 2011 when he held sway his aspiration as deputy governor?
Ekere is being misled and ill-advised by Rotimi Amaechi who betrayed the trust and confidence of his brothers to eat the spattering crumbs of the Daura clan and he intends to pit himself along with others as his time and end draws near.
He goes about promising all manners of prostituting politicians of his kind and mould “juicy contracts” from NDDC. Of recent, a decampee from Eket Senatorial Disrict and onetime Fedeal Lwamaker, Dan Abia Jnr, played himself into Ekere’s wild goose chase when he promised him a legal adviser slot with the NDDC, God knows how long Nsima will last in the agency. A Federal Lawmaker from Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency formerly of the PDP, Emmanuel Ukoette, was tipped by Ekere, as his deputy in 2019.
That’s how far Ekere has shared his stillborn cabinet adventure to become governor in 2019.
