Udoedehe Sacks Attai, Ita Awak From APC
The former Minister of State for Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, caused a major stir yesterday when he practically chased away the embattled State Chairman of the Party in Akwa Ibom State, Mr Amadu Attai, and his self-acclaimed publicity secretary, Mr Ita Awak, from the party secretariat along Atiku Abubakar Way in Uyo.
The embattled state chairman, Attai and the publicity secretary, Awak were at the party house yesterday to address a press conference over the dissolution of his state working committee, when news filtered in that his nemesis-in-chief, Senator Udoedehe had arrived from Abuja and was leading a large crowd of supporters to the same party secretariat.
Our reporter stated that Attai had earlier boasted that Udoedehe stood expelled from the party and would be restricted from entering the premises if he dared the party’s decision to excommunicate him.
Attai and Awak are said to have scampered away hurriedly to the surprise of the journalists shortly before the colourful arrival of the APC leader in the state, Senator Udoedehe. Supporters of Senator Akpan James Udoedehe in their numbers on arrival from the airport defied heavy security operatives who were on guard and stormed into the APC Party House located along Atiku Abubakar that was lock.
Addressing the crowd later at his residence, Senator Udoedehe said he deserved the honour, having single handedly contributed to the formation and sustainability of the party in the state.
Referring to Umana and Nsima Ekere, he lambasted those he described as latter day saints who came to destroy the party after cozying for several years in the PDP, and warned that he would not fold his hands and watch them insulting the sensibility of the founding fathers of APC in the state.
He congratulated the new exco of the party led by Mr Mitchell George and charged him to be honest in discharging his duties.
Reacting to the recent dissolution and constitution of the interim party executive in the state Sen John James Akpanudoedehe said that he is still in-charge of the party in the state.
Akpanudoedehe, who is one of the members, Board of Trustee of the APC, as well as a former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress told his supporters that,“ I was with the national executive of the party to ratify and bring a lasting solution to the crisis rocking the party, stressing that his coming to the state was to ensure that thieves and fraudsters are shown the way out of the party.”
On the issue of his suspension from the APC, he said “No one can suspend me from the very party I built with the blood and sweat of my teeming supporters, Amadu Attai, ItaAwak and others are thieves who were coming to defraud and truncate the existence peace in the party.”
While restating his readiness to contest election as a governor of the state, he said “nobody can confront or intimidate me in the APC comes 2019.”
“Where were they, when I contributed 90% of my income to ensure that APC is standing tall in the state?” He asked.
He called on his teeming supporters to remain loyal as he is in-charge of the APC in the state, hinting that almost all the members of the just dissolved party executive did not have membership cards and that he harboured them so that they could have daily breads.
Akpanudoedehe, who on his arrival at the Ibom International Airport was received by his teeming supporters, moved with them while chanting victory songs to the party secretariat, before finally moved to address the press at his residence in Uyo.
