#BlackSaturday: AKSG Declares 2-Day Mourning For Victims
The Government of Akwa Ibom State has declared Sunday, December 11 and Monday, December 12, 2016 as days of mourning in honour of the victims of the collapsed building belonging to the Reigners Bible Church Int’l, Uyo.
This was contained in a press release signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Ekerette Udoh.
To this end, all flags will fly at half-mast within the state.
The 2-day mourning period will be rounded off with a Solemn Assembly at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Uyo on Monday December 12, 2016 by 4.pm prompt.
The Government urges all citizens and friends of the state to continue to pray for the speedy recovery of those injured in this incident.
The roof of the church collapsed when members and guests including the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel and members of the State Executive Council had gathered at Reigners Bible Church, along Uyo Village Road, Uyo, for the Bishopric Ordination of the General Overseer of the Church, Apostle Akan Weeks.
Governor Udom Emmanuel escaped unhurt but many people lost their lives while several others sustained various degrees of injuries.
