The Akwa Ibom State Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Comrade Barr. Ini Emem-Obong, has lashed out at a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Mr. Otu Ita Toyo, for failing to apologize to Nigerians over the mis-governance of the country by his party.
Reminding the APC chieftain of the campaign promises made by President Buhari while he was canvassing for votes as candidate of the party, the PDP spokesperson wondered why the APC-led Federal Government suddenly abandoned its campaign promises after taking over power since May 29, 2015.
Featuring live on a private radio station in the state, Comrade Emem-Obong, while reacting to outburst made by Ita Toyo who had appeared on the same radio station earlier in the day said, “who“ Nigerians are suffering under the APC government. I had expected Ita Toyo to have addressed the serial failure of the APC-led Federal Government.
“As at the time you made the promises, you made these promises knowing full well what the indices were, but today you renege on your promise. He who lives in glass house should not throw stones.”
Describing the exit of the former State PDP Chairman, Ita Toyo, Ita Awak and other aggrieved politicians from the PDP to APC, Barr. Ememobong, said the People’s Democratic Party in the state is fairing now.
“PDP is better now than before with the conscious migration of the elements that watered down the PDP. We are better off now.”
Describing them as political migrants, Ememobong maintained that the APC politicians who left the PDP contributed nothing to the growth of the party, as they were only on a mission to destroy the party.
The party dismissed as false, the allegation by the Publicity Secretary of the All Progressive Congress, Mr. Ita Awak and the APC chieftain, Ita Toyo that youths were sponsored by the PDP to cause trouble at the recenty held South-south Zonal town hall of the federal government. Describing such stories as one of the many ‘ bare faced lies common to the opposition party in the state, Barr. Ememobong who absolved the state government and the PDP of blame, wondered how the PDP would have disrupted an event that was organized and moderated by APC people.
He quickly pointed out that some of the reactions at the venue of the town hall meeting may have emanated from some people who were already angry and tired of the failure of the federal government to live up to their promises which they enunciated during the campaigns.
Defending the position of the State House of Assembly on the constitution of transition committees for the 31 local government councils in the state given the current economic realities, the PDP scribe reminded that even Lagos State with the largest IGR and several other APC governed state have not conducted local government elections in their respective state.
