Onofiok Luke Remains AKHA Speaker, Says Paul Ekpo
The Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Obong Paul Ekpo, has declared that the State House of Assembly is satisfied with the performance of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke.
He made the declaration during a reception ceremony organised for the state PDP executive members on Monday at the party Secretariat, Uyo.
In his word, the party Chairman said: “Akwa Ibom State PDP is satisfied with the performance of the State House of Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke.
“We are warning those out there who are throwing tantrums and trying to divide the State House of Assembly, to desist henceforth. The party was equally satisfied with the performance of Hon. Aniekan Uko during the brief period he piloted the affairs of the Assembly.
“You will agree with me that Aniekan Uko did very well and we are proud of him. God’s ways are beyond imagination and we should desist from distracting the House from its peaceful activities.
“The House of Assembly has its own rules and procedures and nobody outside should attempt to cause unnecessary disharmony between two brothers who are worthy ambassadors of the party.
“I repeat, the party has no intention of interfering in the leadership of the House of Assembly, and Onofiok Luke remains the Speaker.”
In his reaction, the Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke, warned House members to stop blackmailing each other and charged them to join hands in working together for the progress of the state.
He reinstated the support of the House for Governor Udom Emmanuel to be re-elected come 2019
