CBN Links Calabar Office Fire Explosion To Gas Cylinder
The Director of Corporate Communications, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Isaac Okorafor, has clarified that it was a gas explosion at the part of the premises office in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
The explosion took place in the early hours of Friday, March 11, 2016.
He disclosed that no death nor injuries were recorded from the incident, adding that the resultant fire has been successfully put out.
“There is a gas explosion from the construction area of our premises there. There is no fatality yet. A few persons who were injured have been taken to the hospital. The Fire service personnel responded promptly and they have been able to put out the fire,” he told our correspondent.
It was reliably gathered that the explosion occurred when a cylinder being used by welders at the site caught fire.
