The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, has said that the 1.2km underground Drainage Project executed along Oron road, Nsikak Eduok road, Tropicana and its environs, which would be ready for commissioning latest in the second quarter of the year.
The State Governor who fielded questions from Government House Correspondents on arrival at Ibom International Airport from Abuja where he attended the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caucus Meeting, commended the construction firm Julius Berger PLC, for the speedy execution of the project.
The Governor expressed satisfaction at the emergence of Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as the National Chairman of the Party adding that Senator Sherriff ‘s emergence has been endorsed by the Governor’s Forum, Board of Trustee and the entire Peoples Democratic Party family.
On the State of the economy, the State Chief Executive expressed optimism that the prevailing economic recession would soon pave way for a boom which would return the Country to it hay days and advised the people not to be despaired by the trend but should make adjustment in their spending pattern.
He said despite the shortfall in funds allocated the State by the Federal Government, his administration would continue to work assiduously to deliver democratic dividends to the people based on priority.
