Umana Lures Eseme Eyiboh, Nsima Ekere, Others With NDDC Job
The deceitful strategy of the All Progressive Congress (APC) deployed to win the support of aggrieved politicians in the state appears to be getting more victims the latest being Mr Eseme Eyiboh who last year lost his bid for the House of Representatives on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Following the recent unwarranted sack of Barr Bassey Dan Abia by the APC-led federal government, there had been widespread condemnation and disenchantment by Akwa Ibom people over the appointment of Ibim Semenatari of Rivers state.
The Akwa Ibom people insisted that it was unfair for the state to be shortchanged with two years still remaining of its statutory right to manage the NDDC especially being the largest producer of crude oil in the country.
But Umana was said to have called Eyiboh who previously defeated Barr Bassey Abia to win the 2007 House of Representatives seat for Eket federal Constituency, promising that he will use his powers to give him the position of MD of NDDC if he can manoeuvre his way to become governor.
Umana, according to inside sources has been luring politicians who lost out in the last elections to help him in his predicament in return for one political carrot or the other.
The APC candidate had previously promised the same NDDC MD to former deputy governor Nsima Ekere and Arc. Otu Ita Toyo, who quickly fell to the bait and are currently writing on newspapers and Internet everyday as part of their job description.
However reports suggest that Umana himself is in dire need of the same position as he had since submitted his credentials to the national chairman of the APC, since he is not sure of actually getting result in the current litigation on the governorship seat.
